“This whole shirtless thing, where does it come from?,” Bert Kreischer is asked in the new trailer for his Netflix comedy Free Bert.
Netflix viewers are about to find out early in the new year as the streamer has dated the comedy for January 22.
Free Bert stars Kreischer, shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard, as he himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in.
The trailer, which you can watch above, and date were unveiled during Netflix’s Christmas Gameday, which sees the Dallas Cowboys take on the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions play the Minnesota Vikings.
Kreischer is one of Netflix’s key stand-up stars with specials including Secret Time, Hey Big Boy, Razzle Dazzle, Lucky and This Machine.
The six-part series stars Arden Myrin as Kreischer’s wife LeeAnn and the mother of their two daughters who grew up in a trailer park. Ava Ryan plays the couple’s older daughter Georgia, who is the target of cyberbullying. Lilou Lang, Christine Horn, Chris Witaske, Mandell Maughan, Sophia Reid-Gantzert, Robert Jon Mello, Braxton Alexander, Matthew Del Negro and Noshir Dalal also star.
Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel serve as showrunners, writers and directors and exec produce alongside Kreischer, his wife LeeAnn Kreischer and Judi Marmel, as well as Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios, which the Jax Media alumni launched last year.
