Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Rocked the Naked Nail Trend With Matching Signet Rings

Margot Robbie is teaching Jacob Elordi the fine art of red-carpet method dressing on the Wuthering Heights promo tour.

It was not enough for Robbie to rock Elizabeth Taylor’s famed Taj Mahal diamond necklace to the film’s premiere as a symbol of another epic, tumultuous romance. She also immortalized her own journey with Elordi in the form of matching signet rings by fine-jewelry designer Cece Fein-Hughes.

In an interview with Vogue, Fein-Hughes revealed that Robbie’s longtime stylist Andrew Mukamal had reached out to request a pair of rings that could represent the doomed, all-encompassing passion between Emily Brontë’s Catherine Earnshaw (Robbie) and Heathcliffe (Elordi). Fein-Hughes delivered with designs featuring two hand-enameled skulls locked in an eternal embrace. According to Vogue, “The bones sit in a tangle of thorns, to symbolize both bittersweet love and the harshness of nature.”

Inscribed with the publishing date of the original book as well as the film’s release year, the design was completed with the Brontë quote, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”

With statement pieces like that, it’s no wonder the pair wanted to let the jewelry speak for itself. Wearing the rings for a press event ahead of the premiere, Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi eschewed any kind of glam manicure, embracing instead a naked nail trend.

The naked nail trend is best associated with the clean-girl aesthetic as popularized by the likes of Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber. It could also be described as the no-makeup makeup look of the hands and uses understated, barely there shades of nail polish for as natural a look as possible.

While naked nails can also include light pink or beige polish on long or shaped nails, Robbie pared it back even further, wearing only a clear coat (if anything) on her short nails. This made her hands an elegant visual match for Elordi’s.
