Chloé Zhao, Pamela Anderson, Ethan Hawke To Attend Berlinale


Chloé Zhao, Pamela Anderson, Ethan Hawke, Sophie Okonedo, Bella Ramsey, Callum Turner, Sean Baker, and John Turturro are among the names confirmed to be attending this year’s Berlin Film Festival, which runs February 12-22.

Baker will be traveling to Berlin to give an honorary speech for Michelle Yeoh, who is set to receive the festival’s Honorary Golden Bear. Baker and Yeoh worked together last year on the short film Sandiwara. Yeoh will be handed the award at Berlin’s opening ceremony. 

Composer Max Richter will also be honored at the opening ceremony with the Berlinale Camera. Zhao, who recently collaborated with Richter on the film Hamnet, will give the honorary speech for the composer. 

Among those attending for the premieres of their news films are Sandra Hüller (Rose), Juliette Binoche, Tom Courtenay and Florence Hunt (Queen at Sea), Isabelle Huppert (The Blood Countess), Ethan Hawke (The Weight), Neil Patrick Harris and Bella Ramsey (Sunny Dancer), Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Zazie Beetz and Haley Lu Richardson (Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die), Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan (Josephine) and John Turturro (The Only Living Pickpocket in New York).

The festival has also confirmed the following names as attendees: Amanda Seyfried, Hiam Abbass, Mehar Bano, Charli xcx, Miyu Irino, Anders Danielsen Lie, Lars Eidinger, Rasti Farooq, Rob Halford, Birgit Minichmayr, Sam Riley, Carice van Houten, Rupert Grint, Seidi Haarla, Luna Wedler, Max Riemelt, Earl Cave, and James Norton.

Wim Wenders is the jury president at this year’s Berlinale. He is joined by Min Bahadur Bham, actor Bae Doona, director, producer, and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, director, screenwriter, and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green, director, screenwriter, and producer HIKARI, and producer Ewa Puszczyńska.
