EXCLUSIVE: Psychological thriller The Technique is set to launch for international sales at next week’s European Film Market with Luminosity Pictures.
As we previously revealed, starring are Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Ben Platt (Theater Camp), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
The film follows five actors who sign up for a weeklong intensive workshop led by a legendary yet enigmatic teacher whose former students have achieved rare artistic and professional success but whose technique is shrouded in secrecy.
Currently in post-production, pic was written and directed by first time feature filmmaker Brian McGreevy who created, wrote and exec-produced the Pierce Brosnan led series The Son and served as a writer on Netflix series Hemlock Grove based on his book.
Miles Skinner of Hypothesis and Andrea Bucko of Raised By Wolves are producing alongside Jordan Drake, David Duque-Estrada, and Chadd Harbold.
“The Technique is a story about a group of actors pushed to the limits of delusion and derangement, and boy does this cast give you your money’s worth” said McGreevey. “This film is a passion project years in the making about the dangerous game of chasing your passion — the perennially blurred and seductive line between dream and psychosis. Filmmaking is the weird art of asking others to co-create your own hallucination, and this asylum could not have asked for a more committed and joyful group of inmates”.
“The film is an ensemble psychological thriller that deliberately blurs control, reality, and — most importantly — the pursuit of fame” commented Hypothesis’ Skinner. “We’re excited to partner with Daniel Diamond and the team at Luminosity as our foreign sales agent. Daniel immediately understood how that experience could be translated to international audiences”.
