Kate Middleton and Prince William Break Their Silence on the Epstein Files

In the wake of the many disturbing revelations and allegations in the newly released Epstein Files, Kate Middleton and Prince William have released their first statement related to the story. The couple hasn’t been implicated in any wrongdoing, but the entire family has been closely associated with the Jeffrey Epstein saga for years because of the late financier’s close relationship with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor—son of Queen Elizabeth II and William’s uncle. Andrew settled the sexual assault case against him in January 2022 and gradually retreated from public life; he was stripped of his royal title in October 2025 and moved out of his Windsor mansion last week.

Now Prince William and Kate Middleton have released a statement that doesn’t address the Andrew of it all, but makes it clear where they stand. “I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims,” a spokesperson told People on February 9. “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

There have been no official statements from Princesses Eugenie or Beatrice, Andrew’s daughters with ex Sarah Ferguson (emails with Ferguson are also in the files, though she’s not accused of assaulting or trafficking anyone). However, a royal historian has speculated on their mindset, telling People, “My understanding is they feel pretty duped by the whole thing…I do think they believed their father, and now it has all backfired…They were only 19 or 20-year-olds at the time. If, at that age, your parents say we are going to see someone who’s a friend of theirs, you don’t think much about it beyond that.”
