EXCLUSIVE: The Ones Left Behind starring Isabelle Carré (Les Rêveurs) will be a big French-language drama launch at the London TV Screenings next week. France TV Distribution has snagged the rights and will be pre-selling the crime drama internationally.
Inspired by a true story, the six-parter follows Tania (Danae Dario), a woman struggling with postpartum depression who reconnects with her mother Christine (Carré). Together, they delve into archives and discover that Rose, Christine’s mother, died under suspicious circumstances and what was supposed to be a quest for identity turns into a perilous investigation. As they make discoveries relating to Rose’s death and a possible cover up, Tania and Christine have to ask themselves how far they are willing to go to uncover the truth.
Christian Mukuna, Roland Vouilloz, Mélanie Foulon, Julia Portier and Geneviève Mnich also star in the series, which will bow on RTS, the Swiss public broadcaster. Léa Fazer directs from a script she penned with Mathilde Henzelin and Sébastien Meier.
Ahead of the series premiere, which is expected towards the end of 2026, FTD will be talking to buyers about presales during the London TV Screenings. The original French-language name for The Ones Left Behind is Placée. The drama series is made by Rita Productions alongside Sequel Prod, Behive, Kidam and RTS.
London is now a global hotspot for TV sales each February with the London TV Screenings, MIP London and BBC Showcase all bringing buyers to town and numerous launches, parties and events taking place.
