While some brides invest in hair extensions for their big day, short wedding hairstyles can be just as romantic and elegant. Whether you want to stay true to your signature bob or are considering a big chop before your wedding, rest assured: You’ll still have plenty of swoon-worthy styles to choose from.
“I honestly love short bridal hair. It feels so chic and intentional,” says Haven Whiteman, pro stylist at Luxy Hair. “When a bride chooses to keep her hair short on her wedding day, it reads as confident and modern but still timeless. It also really shows off the neckline, the dress details, and the face in a way that longer hair sometimes hides.”
One prime example? Selena Gomez’s Old Hollywood wedding bob, which earned a permanent spot on our mood boards after her September 2025 nuptials. To get the look, stylist Renato Campora told us he styled Gomez’s shoulder-length hair “in a marcel wave pattern, pinning each curl to cool and hold its shape.” The final look was timeless and lasted well past the star-studded reception.
“Short hair can be voluminous, tousled, sleek, polished, or romantic. It just depends on the direction you take it,” Whiteman says. As to which short bridal styles are trending in 2026? According to the expert: “The French girl, effortless vibe is still very in. Bobs, especially, are having a moment. Brides want movement and texture—hair that feels soft and touchable.”
