Meghan Markle is currently on a humanitarian trip in Jordan, and of course her wardrobe is already giving us major spring-spiration. Her latest covetable look includes the spring footwear trend we predicted would be everywhere come the warmer months (Meghan, are you reading Glamour?): the soft loafer.
The shoe is part moccasin and part boat shoe, and oh so comfortable for whatever’s on your spring agenda—be it taking long strolls in the sunshine or, like Markle, taking a quick soccer break. Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, were on a visit to the QuestScope Youth Center at the Za’atari refugee camp, home to displaced Syrians.

The 44-year-old’s shoes—the Marin Suede Boat Loafers from Vince ($295)—add a bit of texture without breaking up the line of her camel-on-camel color scheme. Paired with a white button-down blouse and an olive-green tee, this look is a perfect example of Markle’s aesthetic evolution toward timeless trends.
These boat loafers are very much in line with the old money aesthetic that continues to trend, especially in the wake of the Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy obsession triggered by Ryan Murphy’s Love Story. The supple suede makes the soft loafer even more comfortable than the rigid leather loafers that dominated last fall, which often require a break-in period. We love fancy shoes as much as the next girl, but in the end, we like being able to walk without pain even more. Meghan Markle understands.
