EXCLUSIVE: Fabrizio Guido, Lisa Gilroy, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Dustin Ybarra have joined Amazon MGM Studios’ untitled Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant romantic comedy.
Merchant as we told you directs and co-wrote with John Butler. The story follows a workaholic Brit employed at an upscale New York hotel (Merchant) who needs a wife for appearances. He strikes a deal with a struggling stand-up comic (Diaz) who is desperate for health insurance. Their fake marriage starts as a transaction – but ends in a hilariously unexpected romance. Sherry Cola and Josh Segarra also star.
Producers include Lee Eisenberg, Stephen Merchant, and Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen. Natalie Sandy will executive produce.
Guido is best known for recent credits including the Kate Hudson Netflix comedy series Running Point, Perry Mason season two on HBO Max; Netflix’s Mr. Iglesias; and Good Burger 2, currently streaming on Paramount+. The actor is represented by 23 Management Group, CESD Talent Agency, UTA, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
Gilroy’s credits include The Studio, Twisted Metal, Interior Chinatown, Man on the Inside, Shrinking, and Jury Duty. Upcoming film credits include Super Troopers 3, Office Romance, and You Deserve Each Other for Amazon MGM Studios. She is represented by OPE Partners, WME, and Ziffren Brittenham.
Taylor was most recently seen in the Oscar winning American Fiction for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures. On Broadway, she was a Tony nominee for her role in TINA and starred in the Tony award-winning Best Revival of Nine. Off-Broadway, she received a Drama Desk Award for School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play. Additional Film and TV credits include Ben is Back, The Big Sick, Atlanta, Poker Face, Hunters, and Girls. The actress is represented by BRS/Gage Talent Agency.
Ybarra is a recurring guest star on Ghosts; and can be seen in films including One of them Days, and Us, the Universal feature from Jordan Peele. Television credits include Kevin Probably Saves the World, Us & Them, Californication, The Goldbergs, Gotham, Battle Creek, Stand-Up Revolution, and Live At Gotham.
