Zara Larsson On Rumors She Was Offered To Replace Camila Cabello After Fifth Harmony Exit: “I Don’t Do Groups”

is living a “Lush Life” as a solo artist, but at one moment in her career, she was rumored to have been approached to join Fifth Harmony to replace Camila Cabello.

In a new interview, the Swedish singer and songwriter clarified that she would not join a girl group and denied having been offered a spot in the now-defunct group.

“Oh, no. I don’t do groups,” she said in an interview at the Spotify Live Room.

Larsson added, “I would never be in a group.”

The singer clarified that she is “a big fan of girl groups,” adding, “I love that. And I also like that I feel like the girl groups are coming back big time.”

Larsson said that if she had ever been in a girl group, she would be “front center,” like Beyoncé.

The “Ruin My Life” singer toured alongside Fifth Harmony in 2014 as the opening acts in Cher Lloyd’s “I Wish Tour.”

“I love a girl group,” she said. “I just couldn’t take not singing lead all the time.”

Larsson said that although the rumors about her replacing Cabello in the girl group, she fondly remembers touring with them, saying, “I actually love to be on that tour. That’s memories for life. What a good time that was. What an era.”

Fifth Harmony was a girl group formed in the second season of The X Factor USA in 2012. The pop group consisted of Cabello, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Normani Kordei. Cabello left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career. Although the group continued as a four-piece, in 2018, they announced they would take an indefinite hiatus. The singers (minus Cabello) reunited in 2025 for a surprise performance during a Jonas Brothers concert in Dallas, Texas.
