Hike Zagorohoria’s Storied Mountains

If you’ve checked the islands off your bucket list and desire a side of Greece most tourists miss, head for Zagori (also goes by Zagorohoria). This northwestern region is a cluster of stone villages and dramatic paths in the Pindus mountains, and was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2023. One of the most popular hikes—the Vikos Gorge—journeys through one of the deepest gorges, winding along quiet villages and monasteries.
