‘The Bachelorette’ Replaced By ‘The Greatest Average American’ & ‘AFHV’ On ABC

ABC is taking its Sunday night schedule week-by-week after it pulled Season 22 of The Bachelorette.

The Disney-owned network will slot repeats of America’s Funniest Home Videos and The Greatest Average American into the 8-10 p.m. spot that was supposed to be filled with roses. AFHV will air at 8 p.m. and Nate Bargatze’s gameshow will air at 9.

Last weekend, a two-hour repeat of American Idol took its place.

On March 19, ABC made the decision to pull The Bachelorette after a video emerged of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul, who was this season’s bachelorette, throwing a chair at her partner Dakota Mortensen, in the vicinity of one of her children.

“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” Disney said in a statement.

It’s not clear whether her season of Warner Horizon-produced dating show will ever air on ABC, or its streamer Hulu, but Disney has kept the door open — note the aforementioned “at this time” in its statement.

There is an open police investigation involving Paul and Mortensen that needs to be resolved before any final decisions can be made, hence ABC putting repeats in the Sunday night slot.

The fallout also has engulfed Hulu’s Mormon Wives, with production on Season 5 of the reality series having been paused earlier this month.
