Heather Graham Teases ‘Carrie’ Series Details

After 50 years, the universal themes that made Carrie a horror masterpiece are getting an update for a new generation.

Heather Graham, who stars in Mike Flanagan‘s upcoming series reboot of Stephen King’s 1974 book for Amazon MGM Studios, recently revealed some details about her character in the eight-episode show.

“If you remember the original movie, Carrie’s got two main antagonists,” she said at MegaCon Orlando, according to Collider. “She has her mother, and she has the girl at school who’s bullying her. I played the mom of the girl at school who’s bullying her.

Noting that Flanagan has “expanded on the story” for his series, Graham added, “Hopefully they’re looking to do maybe a second season too.”

Graham previously told Collider she’s already “seen the first three episodes, and they’re great,” explaining how the show updates the story for a new generation of teens.

“They bring in an aspect of social media bullying and guns in school, so they try to modernize it, and I do feel like [Flanagan] captures the essence of what makes Carrie great,” said Graham.

Wrapping production last October, Carrie is described as a reimagining of the story of misfit high schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden death, Carrie finds herself contending with the challenges of attending high school, a bullying scandal and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.

After Deadline exclusively announced Flanagan’s Carrie in October 2024, he found his titular telekinetic teen in Summer Howell, rounding out the cast with Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle, Samantha Sloyan as Carrie’s mom Margaret White, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy and Joel Oulette as Tommy. Other additions include Graham, Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Katee Sackhoff, Rahul Kohli, Crystal Balint and Danielle Klaudt.
