EXCLUSIVE: Scott Budnick’s has hired Thomas Adam as Director of Development for Features. He joins Maya Jackson who is Director of Television Development.
Both execs will report to the film and TV production company’s Head of Content Ameet Shukla.

Adam arrives from MRC, where he spent seven years rising from assistant to Director of Development for Film. During his time there, he supported a slate spanning both established and emerging filmmakers, working on titles including Knives Out for Lionsgate, Oscar winner American Fiction for Amazon/MGM/Orion, Fair Play for Netflix, Saltburn for Amazon/MGM and G20 for Amazon, as well as the upcoming Eloise for Netflix. He also served as lead creative executive on All of You for Apple TV+, and worked on a number of forthcoming projects including Let’s Have Kids! starring Karen Gillan and Zoë Chao, Good People Bad Things starring Issa Rae, The Gallerist starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, and Unabomber at Netflix starring Russell Crowe, Shailene Woodley and Jacob Tremblay. Prior to MRC, Adam held roles at Entertainment 360 and began his career in the Media Finance Division at CAA.
Jackson, who leads television development at 1Community, is overseeing a growing slate of creator-driven projects with an emphasis on bold, socially relevant storytelling. She is a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, held roles at CAA, Freeform and Reléve Entertainment before joining MRC, where she served as Manager in TV Development. There, she worked across projects including The Great (Hulu) and Time Bandits (Apple TV+), while managing a broad development slate.
1Community’s recent credits include the Susanna Fogel’s comedic biopic, Winner, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. In addition, the company produced two Broadway plays, Selina Fillinger’s POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying To Keep Him Alive and the revival of Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf collectively earning ten Tony nominations in the same year. The company’s biggest success to date is Stephen Chbosky’s Nonnas which topped global charts for five weeks straight and earned nominations at the Emmys, the Critic Choice Awards, and the Producer Guild Awards, and a win at the Director Guild Awards in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television.
Budnick is the EP of The Hangover franchise, and the Michael B. Jordan legal drama, Just Mercy, as well as War Dogs starring Jonah Hill, Miles Teller and Ana de Armas.
