Lola Young Says She Is In ‘Drugs Recovery’ Following Onstage Collapse

Following an unspecified health scare that led to her onstage collapse mid-show last year, Brit hitmaker Lola Young says she is currently in recovery for addiction and is doing “a hell of a lot better.”

In a profile for The Times U.K., the “Messy” singer reflected on her brief hiatus from touring and public appearances, in which she canceled all of her slated 2025 events.

“Um, so yeah, I think I would rather for the sake of my privacy not say too much,” she told the outlet. “But what I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a hell of a lot better.”

When asked to clarify, she responded, “I mean drugs recovery, yes. When you’re in recovery … that doesn’t necessarily need to mean drugs — but me specifically, yes.”

The breakout star, who became a newly minted Grammy winner early last month, has twice been to rehab, per the publication.

“There were a lot of things going on for me personally — I was going through a lot of mental health issues, a lot of battling with addiction,” she said of recording her latest album, I’m Only F**king Myself, at the end of a five-week stint in treatment.

After checking into a holistic facility that addresses addiction and mental health, she is now attending AA, the paper noted. Young also remarked that her lightened schedule aids in the recovery process, as part of the journey is “being self-aware and knowing when to stop, and knowing when to say no.”

When asked what she would tell others in recovery, she responded: “I need to think about this before I speak,” before adding, “I would like to say that this is an ongoing journey. You have to be kind to yourself. You have to always remember that you are not alone. You are not ever, ever alone.”

The artist, cosigned by the likes of Lily Allen and Elton John, has resumed touring this year, with dates set for Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and London in June.
