Alia Bhatt Teases Yash Raj Films’ First Female-Led Spy Movie ‘Alpha’

Alia Bhatt passed through the Red Sea Film Festival this afternoon, where she teased Alpha, her forthcoming Yash Raj Films spy flick, which is set for release in 2026.

Alpha is the first female-led movie in the YRF Spy universe. Bhatt stars alongside Sharvari and Bobby Deol. Aditya Chopra is producing, and Shiv Rawail (The Railway Men) is directing. Discussing the flick, Bhatt said the film will be a risky proposition in the marketplace.

“Alpha is the first female-led action film from the YRF universe, so that’s also a risk, because you’ve not historically seen that perform in the same way that the other male-led films have performed,” Bhatt said.

Alpha is the seventh film in the very lucrative YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. Yash Raj Films, headed by Akshaye Widhani, has been busy this year. In October, the company locked a deal to shoot three new Bollywood blockbusters in locations across the UK from 2026.

The BFI said in a release at the time that the three-picture deal will create more than 3,000 jobs and boost the economy “by millions of pounds”.

“Bollywood is back in Britain, and it’s bringing jobs, investment and opportunity, all while showcasing the UK as a world-class destination for global filmmaking,” UK PM Keir Starmer said in a statement.

Widhani hosted Starmer at YRF’s Mumbai HQ during his state visit to India. The deal coincides with the 30th anniversary of YRF’s UK-shot hit film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ).

Alpha is set for a global release on April 17, 2026.

Red Sea runs until Dec 13.
