Much like the darkly comic material in Park Chan-wook‘s No Other Choice, North American distributor Neon is getting in on the fun with a special free screening geared toward “all Fortune 500 CEOs.”
In the latest example of outside-the-box marketing, the indie film production company noted it was happy to be “cordially inviting” the heads of the country’s most lucrative corporations. “This is truly a film that speaks to our gracious executive leaders and the culture they have cultivated,” read Neon’s statement on X earlier today.
“NO OTHER CHOICE spotlights many parts of your humble mission to achieve corporate greatness,” the post continued. “From the unbearable weight you carry upholding your employees’ livelihoods, to the systems you strive to conquer for economic growth, to the conditions and resources you govern in times of strategic mergers and realignment — this is truly a film that speaks to you and the culture you have cultivated!”
The company (which is also behind other Oscar-contending titles like The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and It Was Just an Accident) said the screening will take place Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. in New York City, directing all applicable chiefs to RSVP to the provided email address for further details.
From the Oldboy and Decision to Leave director comes the second adaptation of Donald Westlake’s 1997 horror thriller novel, featuring Squid Game alum Lee Byung-hun as Man-soo, a longtime worker at a South Korean paper mill, who is abruptly fired upon the company’s acquisition by American owners. Dispossessed and desperate, he devises an ingenious plan to securing new employment in a ruthless job market: eliminating his competition.
No Other Choice premiered to rave reviews earlier this year at the Venice Film Festival, and will bow in theaters Christmas Day in the U.S. The black comedy has already nabbed three Golden Globe nominations, one Critics Choice nod and is the official South Korean entry for Best International Feature Film for next year’s Academy Awards.
