A24 UK is turning investigative writer Patrick Radden Keefe’s London Falling: A Mysterious Death in a Gilded City and a Family’s Search for Truth into a TV series.
The book tells the story of Zac Brettler, a London teenager who died under mysterious circumstances in 2019. After his death, his parents discover he had been living a double life, posing as the billionaire son of a Russian oligarch. As they investigate what happened, and who their son really was, they are drawn into the dark underworld beneath London’s glittering surface.
The book, which publishes in five days, was initially a New Yorker article, which generated huge interest.
Keefe, one of America’s pre-eminent investigative journalists, is already having The Snakehead adapted by A24, which is described as a mix between The Godfather and Chinatown. It is the second London project A24 has landed in recent weeks, following Laura Shepherd-Robinson’s We Are The Dead.
We understand the Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett-led A24 UK won out in a competitive situation to secure the rights.
A24 UK just hired Heartstopper EP Patrick Walters and has a number of TV projects upcoming including Apple TV’s The Husbands with Juno Temple, Channel 4 soccer drama Major Players from Molly Manning Walker and Michaela Coel’s next show, First Day on Earth, for the BBC and HBO, which rounded out cast yesterday.
