EXCLUSIVE: Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery) has landed a key role alongside Dakota Fanning and Stellan Skarsgård in Apple TV’s untitled thriller series from Emmy-winning creator Alex Cary (A Spy Among Friends, Homeland).
In the new series from Sony Pictures Television, Fanning plays an undercover Treasury agent in a multi-billion dollar international conglomerate, with world-changing political and criminal tentacles, who becomes conflicted between her mission and a belief that her principal target, the heir apparent to all that corrupt power, is at his core a good man and worthy of her love.
McCormack will play Kar, the reluctant heir to the international conglomerate, with Skarsgård playing its head, Brandt, as previously announced.
In addition to showrunning under his FLW Productions’ overall deal with Sony, Cary is exec producing the new series alongside Julie Gardner (Lady in the Lake, Doctor Who) for Bad Wolf America, Dakota and Elle Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures (Margo’s Got Money Troubles, The Great). Kari Skogland (Smoke, The Handmaid’s Tale) will direct and exec produce, with Amy Kaufman (Invasion, Lady in the Lake) also aboard as EP.
McCormack is an Irish actor who broke out with his starring role opposite Emma Thompson in the Searchlight/Hulu dramedy Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, for which he earned two BAFTA nominations, an IFTA nomination and more. Recently seen in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment in Netflix’s whodunit series from Rian Johnson, as well as Jan Komasa’s thriller Anniversary, he’s also known for his work in projects like Twisters and Apple TV’s Bad Sisters.
Currently filming a role in Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of the novel by Anne Rice, the actor’s upcoming slate also includes Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice series from Dolly Alderton and the film I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, based on the novel by Keiran Goddard. He is represented by B-Side Management and WME.
