All the Best Vintage (And Vintage-Inspired) Looks at the 2026 Oscars

The 2026 Oscars has enjoyed some major vintage moments over the years—from Reese Witherspoon in her ’50s Balmain gown in 2006, the year she took home best actress, to Margot Robbie in ’90s Chanel couture in 2020.

Happily, a number of stars turned to the archives for their 2026 Oscars looks, including red carpet correspondent Amelia Dimoldenberg, who opted for a strapless black gown from Ralph Lauren’s fall 2007 collection. “It just felt like it captured the Golden Age of Hollywood,” the Chicken Shop Date host told Vogue. “It’s always so special wearing archive and exploring options with a history.”

Other stand-up vintage looks from the night included Marty Supreme costume designer Miyako Bellizzi’s striking graphic print dress from John Galliano’s spring summer 1999 collection for Dior, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy’s black playsuit from John Galliano’s fall winter 1994 collection, which she sported for the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

As ever, A-listers looked to the past for inspiration, as seen via best actress winner Jessie Buckley’s custom Chanel look, which paid homage to Grace Kelly’s 1956 Oscars gown, and Damson Idris’s navy Prada coat, a recreation of a 2012 look originally worn by Adrien Brody on the runway.
