Looking hot on your Electra e-bike isn’t the first priority when navigating New York City traffic. But behind not swerving into a hot dog stand or faceplanting a Tesla, cycling chicly (and safely!) requires only a little bit of forward planning and perusing your own closet, without the need to forgo your own personal style—just ask Jennifer Lawrence.
Weaving through her own NYC neighborhood streets, Lawrence cut a cool figure on her electric bike. She wore the Jacquemus Le Fernando faux fur jacket in animal print, La Ligne’s blue, loose-leg Isadora jean (a favorite denim piece), round-toed Billie leather ankle boots by The Row, and pink-lensed Garrett Leight Woz Sun sunglasses. It’s proven itself a go-to cycling ’fit for the Die My Love actor, who wore the same jacket and jeans combo to bike her young son to school a few days before. On that occasion, she added some crayon blue Khaite leather flats, a black T-shirt by The Row, and a brown suede tote bag from Toteme.
What makes a good biking outfit, if we’re following the Jennifer Lawrence style book? Consider your accessories: Heaven Mayhem Margaux sunglasses are in J-Law’s regular rotation, an elongated oval shape that keeps them square on your nose and with tinted lenses to keep vision clear. No need to resort to sportier goggles. Easy pants, like good denim via La Ligne or a pair of sheer, flowing dark blue skirt-pants from Paloma Wool, have proven themselves trusty for nipping across the city—comfy and covered. Lawrence has experimented with a series of boots and flats too: the aforementioned ankle boots and leather Viv ballet flats from The Row, among them. For tops, easy layers you can strip off and statement outerwear that make the look pop without too much thought. Accessories should be minimal and delicate, to avoid any tangles mid-journey.
In need of more inspo? Timothée Chalamet looked the part of a modern movie star in custom Martine Rose, just sat atop a Lime e-bike, which he rode onto the A Complete Unknown London premiere red carpet.
Again, while cycling chicly isn’t always top of mind when you’ve got to get from point A to B fast, fashion is taking note. Michael Rider’s ready-to-wear debut at Celine for spring 2026 saw models glide down the runway toting cycling helmets, and should be about ready to hit stores—maybe Lawrence should pick one up. Safety first!
