NBC’s “Brilliant Minds” still has a pulse, in the form of fervent support from TVLine readers.
Last month, we asked you to name as many as five yet-to-be-renewed broadcast series that you’d like to see picked up for another season, as an inevitable wave of springtime cancellations draws nearer. As of Wednesday afternoon, when our poll closed with more than 40,000 votes, it was Zachary Quinto’s sophomore medical drama that led the results with more than 12% of the vote.
But the odds are admittedly stacked against “Brilliant Minds” at the moment. In February, the series was pulled from NBC’s lineup for the Winter Olympics, but notably did not return after the Games ended. Instead, the show — which last aired a fresh Season 2 episode on February 2 — will resume Wednesday, May 27, at 8/7c for the final six episodes of the season. A formal decision on its Season 3 fate, though, has yet to be announced.
If “Brilliant Minds” gets canceled after Season 2, it would mark the second consecutive year that the winner of TVLine’s Save One Show poll did not get saved, after the same fate befell Fox’s “Rescue: HI-Surf” in 2025.
A closer look at the poll results
Another NBC series — the long-running police procedural “Law & Order: SVU” — finished second in our poll with 10% of the vote. Neither “SVU” nor the revival of the “Law & Order” mothership (which finished sixth in our results) have been renewed as of press time, but we’re not worried about the former, at least: It’s a staple of NBC’s lineup that would be heading into its 28th season, and its renewal didn’t land until early May last year.
Rounding out the Top 5 of our poll were ABC’s “The Rookie” (which previously won the whole shebang in 2019) and “Will Trent” (which, per our annual scorecard, seems a sure thing for renewal), plus NBC’s “The Hunting Party” (which emerged unscathed from a cancellation bloodbath at NBC last spring).
On the other side of the poll, Fox’s “Going Dutch” finished last among the 14 as-yet-unrenewed shows, bringing in just 1.4% of the vote as its second season winds down. NBC’s “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” Fox’s “Murder in a Small Town,” ABC’s “Shifting Gears,” and NBC’s “Stumble” comprised the rest of the Bottom 5.
While we wait for official word on the fates of these dozen-plus series, check out the full poll results below, then drop a comment with all of your renewal hopes and cancellation fears.
