EXCLUSIVE: Producers Cameron Lawther and Gavin Kilduff have launched Dublin-based film outfit Nina Pictures, which has a deal with Capstone Pictures and a slate of features readying to shoot next year.
Among the slate are new films from Pet Sematary reboot filmmakers Dennis Widmyer & Kevin Kölsch, and a new feature from Wolf filmmaker Nathalie Biancheri. Scroll down for slate details.
Focused on elevated genre films and prestige drama, the initial lineup includes horror and psychological thrillers, developed with partners in Europe, Africa, and the U.S. The founders tell us the company operates with its own development fund and has access to production equity.
As part of its launch, Nina has partnered with Capstone Pictures on a five-picture co-financing deal beginning in 2026. The €20M fund will support elevated, commercial genre titles in the €3–5M range, some of which are noted below.
Lawther, brother of actor Alex Lawther, previously served as assistant director on movies including Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees Of Inisherin. He produced the 2015 genre feature AfterDeath with Sam Keeley.
Kilduff was assistant to Martin McDonagh on Banshees and to Osgood Perkins on Gretel & Hansel.
Cameron Lawther said: “When Gavin and I met on the set of The Banshees Of Inisherin, we instantly connected over our shared taste and a view of what we wanted to bring to the industry. As we launch Nina and continue to build our slate, we are deepening relationships with filmmakers and navigating a rapidly shifting landscape. We are committed to delivering distinctive, filmmaker-driven stories supported by a strong financial foundation. Now it’s time to execute.”
Gavin Kilduff commented: “With Nina we are building a cinema-first, creative led and fiscally disciplined studio which is focused on entertaining audiences worldwide. Our ambition is to grow Nina into an innovative and trusted voice in cinema. This partnership with Capstone is the first major step in that journey.”
Christian Mercuri, CEO of Capstone Pictures, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Cameron and Gavin. Nina Pictures has a rare combination of taste, discipline, and a genuine commitment to supporting filmmakers. Their approach aligns perfectly with Capstone’s vision, and we’re excited to bring this slate of elevated commercial films to life together.”
