As fans patiently await a Troy and Abed reunion to heal their hearts, Donald Glover assures six seasons and a movie are still the plan.
The 2x Golden Globe winner recently teased that “something is gonna happen soon” as he gave an update on , following the sitcom’s six-season run on NBC and Yahoo Screen from 2009 to 2015.
“We’re working on it right now,” Glover told Entertainment Tonight. “I know everybody’s been saying that for forever, but I swear to you, I’m not lying about this. I really think that something is gonna happen soon.”
Glover noted that he and his former co-stars “were just on the text chain talking about it,” adding of the group chat, “It’s pretty lovey dovey, but when you’re on the other side of the world, you will wake up to 83 messages.”
After creating the comedy series, Dan Harmon penned the long-awaited Community movie with former show writer Andrew Guest, which was announced in 2024 as one of 19 projects that will benefit from $51.6 million in incentives from California’s film and TV tax credits program.
Peacock officially ordered the feature in 2022, confirming the return of stars Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. Yvette Nicole Brown has also confirmed her return, noting in October 2024 that the script was “being reworked” to include her character Shirley.
McHale previously took responsibility for the movie’s delay, telling GQ that fans “can fully blame my schedule” following speculation that Glover’s busy schedule was holding up production.
