Episode 6 Blood Moon Twist And Merge, Explained

Orange tribe: During the first Tribal Council of the Blood Moon (I can’t believe I’m typing these words), Tiffany speaks again! Even Kamilla gets some camera time discussing the challenges of navigating such a massive merge, while Jonathan weighs in about how the Blood Moon is going to draw lines in the sand for the rest of the game. There’s also talk about how none of these vote-outs are making the jury, and how almost everyone entered the game with previous scars, looking for redemption. Result: Kamilla is voted out 3-2.

Purple tribe: Genevieve says that part of the Blood Moon twist is picking the same colored rock that your friends did. But Aubry chimes in that while, yes, it’s somewhat about luck, but it’s also about making sure that you’re receptive to people and don’t close any door. (Camera pans to Genevieve!) Christian says he’s glad he has immunity, otherwise he could be applewood smoked. SHOUTOUT APPLEBEE’S, home of the… ugh, look, I’m not Googling what the Bourbon thing is called. I didn’t before and I’m not doing it now. I already said “Applebee’s” five times in this recap and I’m not even getting paid in bacon-wrapped bacon burgers, or whatever grub Probst was slinging.

Anyway, Genevieve serves up a bit of word salad — not from Applebee’s (five!) — and I think she means that… she’s grasping at straws? But she ain’t no dummy. She knows votes are coming her way. When Jeff calls for advantages, Aubry doesn’t play her idol, but Genevieve does play her Shot in the Dark. But her scroll reads: NOT SAFE. Result: Genevieve is voted out 4-0. And just like Angelina last week, she gifts her beautiful red jacket to Aubry on the way out. (You get a coat! And you get a coat! EVERY! BODY! GETS! A COAT!)

Teal tribe: In the final and certainly most emotional Tribal Council of the night, Colby and Coach reflect on how long it’s been since they’ve attended Tribal. Coach says he feels the gravity of it. Colby says it’s like riding a bike. Then, the “Australian Outback” OG says he has a target painted on him. He admits to having no vote and no Shot in the Dark to hide behind, but he’s not bitter. He says he’s had more fun on “50” than all of his other experiences. Coach, Cirie, and Colby then break down how much this show has impacted their lives. Given them lifelong friendships. Changed their futures forever. It was kinda sweet and kinda sad, and definitely made this Day 1 fan feel old. Result: No surprise here: Colby is voted out unanimously, and on his way out, he urges the rest to “find the joy” in the game.

What a night of twists, turns, and tears! But enough from me — I want to hear what you have to say about Wednesday’s Blood Moon extravaganza! Go Full Tilt Boogie in that comments section, and be sure to hit TVLine Thursday for our exit interviews with Kamilla, Genevieve, and Colby!
