Erin Doherty Joins Nancy Meyers Comedy At Warner Bros. (EXCLUSIVE)

EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of her star-making awards run with Netflix’s Adolescence, Erin Doherty has signed on to star in Warner Bros.‘ new comedy from Nancy Meyers.

Character details are under wraps, but Doherty takes over the role Emma Mackey was set for before departing in February due to a scheduling conflict. She joins a cast that also includes Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson.

While the logline for the film, previously referred to as Paris Paramount, is under wraps, reports suggest that the project is about a filmmaker and producer who were once romantic and creative partners who reunite years after their breakup to make a new movie together, navigating their complicated relationship while dealing with volatile stars on their high-stakes production.

In an Instagram post in 2023, Meyers said the film is about “a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do.” The feature is the rom-com legend’s first since Warner Bros.’ The Intern in 2015. Warner Bros. picked it up after Netflix shelved the project in 2023 due to budgetary concerns.

Directing from her own script, Meyers is also producing her comedy alongside Ilona Herzberg, with Diana Pokorny exec producing. Warner Bros. has it slated for release on December 25, 2027.

Doherty has garnered global recognition for her role as child psychologist Briony in Netflix’s Adolescence, for which she recently won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award. Most recently, the role led to an Actor Awards nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.

Doherty has also been seen starring of late in A Thousand Blows, a crime drama from Steven Knight, which returned for its second season in January. Upcoming, she stars in BBC’s new drama series California Avenue, alongside Billy Nighy, Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Burke.

First garnering recognition in television for her role as Princess Anne in the third and fourth seasons of Netflix’s The Crown, the British actress is represented by CAA in the U.S., Conway van Gelder Grant in the UK, Untitled Entertainment, and Shelby Weiser at Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
