Focus Features Dates D-Day Movie ‘Pressure’ for Summer

Focus Features is releasing the Working Title and StudioCanal movie Pressure on May 29, ahead of the annual D-Day day of remembrance, setting the stage for a major theatrical event tied to one of the most consequential moments in modern history.

Featuring an all-star ensemble led by Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Chris Messina and Damian Lewis, the Anthony Maras directed pic is set during the tense 72 hours before D-Day. As the fate of the free world hangs in the balance, General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg confront an impossible choice — launch the largest and most dangerous invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.

Maras co-wrote the script with Olivier award-winner, David Haig, based on Haig’s play, which enjoyed a successful run in London’s West End, before going on to be performed for Her Majesty The Queen and world leaders to mark the D-Day 75th anniversary in 2019.

StudioCana bankrolled the movie, and developed the project with Working Title and Maras.

Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Lucas Webb produced, with Cass Marks and StudioCanal’s Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, and Joe Naftalin as Executive Producers.

Focus has domestic rights, Universal Pictures International has select offshore with StudioCanal handling UK, France, Germany, Benelux, Poland, Australia and New Zealand. StudioCanal handled worldwide sales.

Also going wide on May 29 is Black Bear’s Tuner, Paramount’s horror movie Passenger and A24 with an untitled horror title.
