When California Governor Gavin Newsom made his latest stop on his book tour, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host treated him with an award: The 2026 FIFA Skydance Paramount Netflix Warner Bros. Big Ass Lipton Cup O’Peace.
On his show on Tuesday evening, the award was presented by a somewhat Newsom look-a-like, who tried to mimic the governor’s demeanor. Newsom smiled, a bit guarded as he played along.
“This is a historic honor, governor, would you like to say a few words?” Kimmel said.
“Look, this is long overdue, and I assume it comes with a third term,” Newsom deadpanned.
Newsom has been promoting his new memoir, Young Man In A Hurry, as he considers a 2028 presidential bid. Kimmel’s award was a riff on Donald Trump‘s desire for a Nobel Peace Prize. He’s accepted a new peace honor from FIFA. He also accepted Venezuelan activist María Corina Machado, who gave her award to him during a White House visit earlier this year.
Kimmel has poked fun at Trump’s desire for kudos. In January, as the president sent his immigration crackdown to Minneapolis, Kimmel offered to give Trump one or all of his own awards if ICE pulled out of the city.
Newsom, who has been mocking Trump on X, posted after the appearance, “THANK YOU @JIMMYKIMMEL FOR THIS HISTORIC CUP OF PEACE.
