Hoda Kotb Set To Continue On ‘Today’ Subbing For Savannah Guthrie Amid Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

Hoda Kotb will continue to host the Today show amid Savanna Guthrie’s absence following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Multiple reports confirm that Kotb will remain in the anchor chair alongside Craig Melvin for the time being. The journalist returned to the NBC morning show on February 6 to fill in for Savannah Guthrie amid her mom’s abduction.

Kotb had made sporadic appearances on the Today show since her departure in January 2025. She had co-hosted the morning show with Savannah Guthrie since 2018.

In September 2024, Kotb announced she was leaving the Today show at the beginning of 2025.

“They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show,” she wrote in a memo to staffers. “I’ve been weighing this decision for quite a while – Am I truly ready? But, my sixtieth birthday celebration on the Plaza felt like a shift. Like a massive, joyful YES, you are! I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie.”

The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom continues now in its fifth week. In a new video, Savannah Guthrie said they are offering a family reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.

“We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home, hope against hope, as my sister says, ‘We are blowing on the embers of hope.’ We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video posted on Tuesday. “She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy. If this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
