How the Super Bowl Bride’s Wedding Dress Came to Be

“Becoming Jane has an adaptable sensibility,” said Paige in a statement. “She can be worn six different ways, a true celebration of all the women we’ve had to become along the way. That optionality is her superpower.”

“The dimensional tone-on-tone lace is delicately scalloped at the hem and kissed with a tasteful, understated slit on the skirt,” Paige continued. “Becoming Jane borrows her name from Jane Austen, a woman who taught us that pride, grace, and reinvention can coexist beautifully.… This gown lets you change, reveal, and conceal as you wish—as if she were written to adapt to your story.” The Super Bowl bride opted to wear the most pared-down version of the dress, plus a veil.

It was an exciting moment for Paige not just for the obvious reason—having her design featured in the biggest sporting event of the year—but also because just a year ago, she won back the right to sell designs under her own name after a four-year legal saga.

At the start of her career, Paige signed a contract with a wedding-wear distributor to create designs for them; in doing so, she signed over her name as a trademark. When she tried to renegotiate her contract, her former employer sued her, claiming that she couldn’t use her name without infringing on their property. She even lost the rights to her social media accounts under her name. However, when the company she was fighting with filed for bankruptcy, she was able to reach a settlement and buy back her “entire intellectual portfolio, including my name, designs, and anything encompassing of the brand.”
