As someone who doesn’t normally wear dresses, figuring out how to style a boho dress took some serious trial and error. My personal challenge: I often find that flowy dresses swallow me since I’m only 5’2″, plus my 90s-inspired minimalist style is very different from the free-spirited romantic aesthetic. But, I’ve been hit with the boho revival bug. Celebrities like Dakota Johnson, Daisy Edgar Jones, and Jennifer Lopez have stepped out in flared jeans and lacy ruffled dresses, and I simply cant get enough of the nostalgic trend.
Luckily, I turned to Free People and found a dress that fits my vibe and the trend all at once. The length fit my petite frame, the form fitting waist added balance without restricting me, and the earthy color is an easy base to work with, so that I was able to add my own twist to the eccentric style.
If you’re also dipping your toes into the boho trend this season, below are five different ways that I styled the Free People In My Dreams Midi Dress for spring. I was actually very surprised to find that with the right accessories and playing around with proportions, one simple dress can turn into so many different looks—a win if you never know what to wear.
