I Love LA season 2 was announced before the first season even concluded, much to the surprise of absolutely no one. According to HBO, I Love LA became one of the “fastest-growing original comedies” on the network, averaging nearly 2 million “cross-platform viewers” in the US after its debut.
The show’s creator, Rachel Sennott (best known for Shiva Baby and Bottoms), and her merry band of young Hollywood scene stealers star in the Los Angeles–based comedy that has been widely described as Girls for Gen Z, though Sennott (born in 1995) prefers “Entourage for internet It girls.” Sennott leads the cast as Maia, an easily frazzled talent manager who lands the client of her nightmares in her old college frenemy, Tallulah (Odessa A’zion), a messy social media influencer who may or may not be a kleptomaniac.
But really, like many beloved ensemble comedies, I Love LA is mainly about a dysfunctional group of friends—in this case, made up of LA transplants and one Hollywood nepo baby (played delightfully by Forrest Whitaker’s daughter True Whitaker)—navigating life in their late 20s.
