Turns out, Jamie Dornan lost the role of James Bond to Kermit the Frog.
At least, that’s the implication of a new bit promoting his SNL UK hosting stint this weekend.
The skit opens with Dornan practicing his monologue as cast members Hammed Animashaun, Celeste Dring and Al Nash walk up.
As they chat, Nash’s phone starts buzzing.
“Sorry, I’m expecting a call from the the Bond people,” he says, before stating that it’s down to just him and Jacob Elordi for the role. “Fingers crossed!”
The Fifty Shades of Grey actor then looks dejected and admits, “I was in the running for Bond.” (Dornan is among the perennial favorites to land the role.)
The two each do their rendition of the classic, “My name’s Bond, James Bond” line. Dornan’s is dead serious, while Nash’s sounds “like Kermit the Frog,” as Dornan observes.
The befuddled host is left to shake his head as the trio wander off.
Dornan hosts this Saturday, with musical guest Wolf Alice. Riz Ahmed will host the show April 2, with musical guest Kasabian.
The first season of the comedy series has an eight-episode order. It airs on Sky One in the UK, while in the U.S. it will be available on Peacock the following day. The first episode of SNL UK was available to stream in the U.S. on Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, following the show’s Saturday, March 21 premiere.
