“Love Story” Season Two: All the Details We Know

Warning: Spoilers for Love Story season one, ahead.

And just like that, another Ryan Murphy–backed anthology has closed its first chapter. On March 26, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette concluded with the tragic deaths of the ’90s It couple, as well as Carolyn’s sister Lauren Bessette.

Throughout the series, Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) struggles with the notoriety that came with her highly publicized marriage to JFK Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly), right up until that fateful plane crash off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. “She said she didn’t recognize who she had become. And now that person will be immortalized forever,” Bessette’s mother, Ann Messina Freeman (Constance Zimmer), bemoans in the season finale. “I only wish she had lived long enough to be remembered for something else.”

And yet, the show itself further preserves the version of Carolyn tied to John, regardless of how accurate their depictions may or may not be. And FX has the chance to do the same with another storied romance—as long as they have “the right intensity.”

But can we expect Love Story season two? Here’s everything we know about a potential follow-up.

Has FX announced Love Story season two?

Not yet, but it seems likely FX will renew its most-watched limited series ever.

When would Love Story season two come out?

Obviously, we can’t say, but we think every show should strive for a yearly release à la The Pitt. And while that’s less and less common these days, Murphy managed to shorten the gap between seasons of Monsters, releasing season three one year after season two.

What couple will Love Story season two depict?

Nothing has been announced, but Love Story: JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette creator Connor Hines is mulling over prospects for a future project. “Maybe Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton,” Hines told Vanity Fair at a recent Love Story celebration in Los Angeles. “They have the right intensity.”

Still, it’s possible that Hines and Murphy will set their sights overseas. Originally, the show shared a similar title with Murphy’s other anthology projects, American Horror Story and American Crime Story. However, dropping “American” opens up a world of options.

For example, The Pitt star Supriyah Ganesh suggested exploring the alleged “dramatic” love triangle between ’70s Indian film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Rekha.
