Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes Wear “ICE Out” Pins At Golden Globes

As the nation reels from last week’s fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good, the stars at Sunday’s 83rd Golden Globe Awards used the red carpet to protest the government agency.

Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes were among those to walk the carpet with pins that read ‘ICE Out’ and ‘Be Good’, in response to Wednesday’s shooting of Good in Minneapolis, as well as the New Year’s Eve killing of LA local Keith Porter by an off-duty ICE agent.

Organized by a group of industry professionals, the ACLU-endorsed #BeGood campaign intends to remind people “to be good to one another in the face of such horror – to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human.” The campaign is also supported by Maremoto, Move On, National Domestic Workers Alliance and Working Families Power.

“The #BeGood campaign is launching following reports that 2025 was one of ICE’s deadliest year in two decades, and in response to the current administration’s $100 million wartime recruitment campaign aimed at expanding enforcement capacity,” reads a statement from the ACLU.

“For the past year, the Trump administration has been stretching federal power to punish and intimidate communities, often by turning immigrants into scapegoats and using the Department of Homeland Security as the tip of the spear,” they added. “ICE is not making our communities safer. They are bringing chaos into our streets, and families, immigrants and U.S. citizens alike, pay the price.”

Good, a US citizen and Twin Cities resident who had a 6-year-old child, was identified as the victim of Wednesday’s shooting.

In a statement, Tricia McLaughlin, spokesperson for DHS, said that “ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.”

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.”

In a press conference, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said the Trump administration is “already trying to spin this as an action of self defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly, that is bullshit. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.” Frey also told ICE to the get “f*ck out of Minneapolis.”

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that the incident is still under investigation as to what happened. He and Frey called for peace in the city, as protesters gathered at the location of the incident in south Minneapolis.
