‘Minions 3’ Trailer Launches During Super Bowl LX

Gru’s yellow, overall-wearing sidekicks have a new trailer out for the third film in their franchise, Minions.

Originally slated for June 30, 2027, the animated film was moved up to July 1, 2026 alongside Shrek 5, which will land in theaters Dec. 23, 2026.

A clip aired during Super Bowl LX along with a minion running up to the camera and passing out, out of breath from exertion. This is the first viewers are getting of plot details regarding the third Minions film, which has been titled Minions & Monsters.

In the trailer, things get meta with the creatures acting in a movie and taking their battle scene too far when they actually attack and bite the warrior actors.

Minions, which came out in 2015, featured the voices of Sandra Bullock as inventor villain Scarlet Overkill and Jon Hamm as her husband Herb Overkill. Still other voices included Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan and Jennifer Saunders alongside Steve Carell as Gru and Pierre Coffin as The Minions. Minions: The Rise of Gru featured a groovy soundtrack in addition to the voices of Alan Arkin, Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Julie Andrews, Russell Brand, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Jimmy O. Yang and more.

Minions 3 is written by Brian Lynch (MinionsThe Secret Life of Pets films) and directed by Academy Award nominee Pierre Coffin, the filmmmaker behind the first three Despicable Me films and the first Minions film. Coffin has also provided the voice for the Minions since their film debut in 2010. The film will be produced by Illumination’s founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Bill Ryan (EP, The Super Mario Bros. Movie).
