With great hair comes great responsibility—at least for Odessa A’zion, who finally settled the online speculation about her signature curls. At the 2026 Critics Choice Awards on January 4, A’zion wore her full-bodied, black curly shag while promoting Marty Supreme and HBO’s I Love LA. To round out the rock-star-coded look, she wore a custom silver gown by Ott Dubai featuring cutouts and cape sleeves.

On the carpet, Deadline asked the 25-year-old actor about the social media discourse surrounding her hair. TLDR: Photos of a teenage A’zion with seemingly thinner, lighter, and less curly hair have sparked debate about whether she’s wearing a wig.
“You think I can afford a wig like that and wear it all the time? Those are so expensive,” A’zion responded. “I don’t even have a hair, makeup, or stylist because I’m trying to save my money. Maybe one day.”
While the actor maintains that her wild corkscrew curls are the result of her own curly-hair routine, she said that she has used wigs for other styles. “The gag is, the LA premiere [of Marty Supreme] was a wig,” she told Deadline, referencing the soft and romantic shoulder-length curls she wore with a Marc Jacobs suit—an homage to the film’s 1950s setting.
