The Golden Globes red carpet is proving him right over and over again, with some of fashion’s oldest maisons providing it. See: Priyanka Chopra Jones in a custom Christian Dior dress with a voluminous bouffant skirt, and Ayo Edebiri and Selena Gomez in Chanel. In a few weeks we’ll see if these dresses are related to the much anticipated couture debuts of Jonathan Anderson and Matthieu Blazy, respectively.
Jackie Tohn’s dress with rosettes winks at Charles James, while Robin Wright’s Ralph Lauren number could have walked straight out of a ’30s movie. That era—and the ’50s are the most referenced decades so far, and most of the stars channeling the silver screen are sticking to the color scheme of classic films—black and white.
