“My parents always laugh at me because at a young age, I would love things with my back out.” So recalls Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson on this Tuesday’s episode of The Run-Through, chatting with Chloe Malle and Vogue’s global casting director, Ignacio Murillo. “Like, I’m a toddler and my onesie needs to have its back out.”
Suffice it to say that Wilson has always had style—and that’s true right down to her new shoe with Nike, dubbed the A’Two. “The process is always pretty hands-on for me,” Wilson says. “There’s a tattoo of mine in the tongue of the shoe—it’s a sign that says, ‘You have to face setbacks in order to move forward.’ So I feel like that’s something everyone can relate to.”
Wilson also talks about seeing her boyfriend, Miami Heat player Bam Adebayo, score 83 points in a single game—the second-highest total in NBA history (“I’ve seen all the work that [Bam’s] been through. Now it’s paying off”)—and what they like to do in their off-hours: namely, watch Scandal.
“We love us some Olivia Pope and some Jake Ballard and Fitz,” Wilson says. “Those are our homies. I feel like we’re just best friends at this point.”
