Paul Feig Says Blake Lively Helped Cast ‘The Housemaid’

As the fallout continues around the It Ends with Us behind-the-scenes drama, Blake Lively helped at least one co-star land his next role.

The Housemaid director Paul Feig recently revealed that the actress encouraged him to cast her former romantic lead Brandon Sklenar in his upcoming psychological thriller, which premieres Dec. 19 in theaters.

“Blake Lively had just worked with Brandon,” Feig told E! News. “She just kept going on and on about how great he is. And I met him and was like, ‘Yes, you are great and I love you.’”

In between working with the director on A Simple Favor (2018) and Another Simple Favor (2025), Lively co-starred with Sklenar in last year’s It Ends With Us, which has since been overshadowed by her and Justin Baldoni‘s legal battle.

Sklenar has previously avoided discussing the situation. “It’s unfortunate that things get taken away from what the ethos of that thing is and it gets convoluted,” he said in February.

Written by Rebecca Sonnenshine and based on the 2022 novel by Freida McFadden, Sklenar appears in The Housemaid as the wealthy Andrew Winchester, who along with his wife Nina (Amanda Seyfried), conceals dark secrets after they hire Millie Calloway (Sydney Sweeney), a struggling young woman eager for a fresh start.
