‘Physical’ Creator Annie Weisman Inks First-Look Deal With Apple TV

Annie Weisman is staying in business with Apple TV. Just ahead of the premiere of Imperfect Women, her upcoming series adaptation of Araminta Hall’s novel, Weisman has signed a multi-year, first-look deal with the streaming network. Under the pact, Weisman will have a first-look on series she develops for the platform.

Weisman most recently created for television Imperfect Women, and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Led by Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara, the eight-episode series examines a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. The unconventional thriller explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem, per the logline.

Imperfect Women will make its global debut March 18 on Apple TV.

Weisman is best known as the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of Apple TV’s Emmy-nominated series Physical, starring Rose Byrne. Throughout its three seasons, Physical was praised for its vulnerable and accurate portrayal of eating disorders. Prior to Imperfect Women, Weisman served as showrunner and executive producer for the second season of Peacock’s dark comedy thriller Based on a True Story starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina.

Before her collaboration with Apple, Weisman was in a UTV overall where she was an executive producer on Almost Family which she created and ran at Fox, as well as a co-executive producer on Hulu’s The Path.
