Prime Video India Unveils Huge Slate & Targets Global Viewers

Prime Video India today unveiled a massive slate of original TV shows, feature films and licensed content, as leading international execs at the streamer outlined ambitions commensurate to the content.

You can read about the full slate of new shows, film and acquired programs below, with Amazon’s biggest originals slate out of India running across the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

The news comes as India continues to be a key streaming market for Amazon, which operates subscription service Prime Video and free streamer Amazon MX Player in the country. It also comes as streaming audiences further open up to content in multiple languages.

“Internationally, we’re seeing non-English titles ring the ground, and we’re seeing that English is no longer the default language of choice for global storytelling,” said Nicole Clemens, Vice President of International Originals at Amazon MGM Studios today in India.

Among the shows rolling out are Nikkhil Advani’s The Revolutionaries starring Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta, and Gurfateh Pirzada; Matka King starring Vijay Varma; Raakh starring Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir; Lukkhe, which marks the acting debut of rapper KING; and Vansh – The Kalyug Warriors, India’s first Hindi superhero series made for streaming.

Returning titles include Farzi Season 2, Panchayat Season 5, Call Me Bae Season 2, Dupahiya Season 2, Dahaad Season 2 and The Traitors Season 2.

The theatrical slate from Amazon MGM Studios comprises Raftaar, starring Rajkummar Rao, Keerthy Suresh and directed by Aditya Nimbalkar; Kunal Kemmu’s directorial venture VIBE, featuring Kemmu, Preity G Zinta, and Sparsh Shrivastava; Dilkashi, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, produced by Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal, with music by A.R. Rahman; Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam, directed by Balaji Mohan and produced by Aanand L. Rai; and Kuku Ki Kundli directed by Sharan Sharma, featuring Bhuvan Bam and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Amazon, of course, doesn’t reveal its subscriber numbers, but it is estimated to have more than 20 million paying customers in India, making it a significant rival to market leader JioHotstar.

“This slate marks Prime Video India‘s new era, delivering unparalleled content diversity,” said Shilangi Mukherji, Director & Head of SVOD Business, Prime Video India. “India remains central to Prime Video’s global growth, ranking among the top territories worldwide for attracting new Prime members in 2025.

“Close to two-thirds of our customers watch content in more than four languages, reflecting the growing appetite for diverse storytelling. And our Indian content is resonating globally among customers as well, — over half of the most-watched Top 50 non-English titles in 2025 came from Prime Video India.”

During a fireside chat in India led by host and producer Karan Johar involving Clemens, Kelly Day, Vice President of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios International; and Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President, APAC & ANZ, Prime Video, it was referenced several times that 25% of Indian content viewing on Amazon came from outside the country.

Clemens, who joined Amazon MGM Studios last year, said: “Indian content is core to our international success. What stands out for me is that 25% of our shows and our audience are actually coming from outside India. And the content is able to travel beyond the country of origin and resonate across Prime Video locales. This really allows my teammates to think big, and we’re discovering authentic local voices and connecting them with local audiences.”

She noted that over 60% of the 100+ Prime Video originals launched out of India had gone to multiple seasons, which she called “an extraordinary score-credit.”

Day noted India continues to be “a core acquisition driver for the Prime program,” and was driven by the significant push into originals.

“[India] is one of our biggest Originals programs anywhere in the world, and it is reflective of what we know that our customers here in India really love,” she added, while noting shows and films in multiple languages was also having a big effect.

“We’re continuing to really look for opportunities to create more local experiences through more subbing and dubbing and things like that,” she said.

Gandhi, who leads on Indian originals, added some color to future plans. “First of all, there’s so much headroom ahead for streaming and for Prime Video to grow in India,” he said. “We want to make Prime and Prime Video even more accessible to customers around the country.”

Secondly, he plans to dig further into data showing that a quarter of Indian content is viewed outside the country. “We are in the very early days of that,” he said, while adding, “There’s tremendous opportunity for us to build that out and be very intentional about it.”

Gandhi’s team has also been purposefully attempting to build franchise through multiple-season originals such as The Family Man, Panchayat, Farzi, Paatal Lok and Mirzapur, and unscripted titles such as The Traitors. “There is an intentionality and focus to build more IPs,” he added.

Finally, Prime Video India planning to double down on feature films and their release strategies.

“There we are thinking about what the demand and supply goals are,” said Gandhi. “We know there’s demand for movies in films across languages across the board, but how do we make them available to all customers? We talked about pan-Indian movies, we talked about how we’re taking them across the country. We talked about day-to-day release globally in many countries. What we’re moving towards is movie rentals, or TVODs.

“On the supply side, there are a few more interesting parts, where we actually started our journey with just licensing films and moving into co-productions. Today we’re announcing theatrical films from Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, which then come to Prime Video post-theatrical. We are very focused on supercharging that part.”

Here’s an exhaustive look at Prime Video’s slate, including originals and licensed shows, and a trailer for the content played today at the Amazon event.
