‘Red, White & Royal Wedding’ Wraps Filming On Sequel

Wedding bells are chiming as the sequel to 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue has wrapped filming.

On Friday, Taylor Zakhar Perez celebrated completing production on Amazon MGM Studios’ Red, White & Royal Wedding with a behind-the-scenes clip of himself, co-stars and director Jamie Babbit signing off with the movie’s clapperboard.

“You’re done,” said Perez, Nicholas Galitzine and Rachel Hilson in the TikTok video, one after another.

Babbit added with a sense of relief, “That’s a wrap! Every single person is done, including me.”

Based on Casey McQuiston’s 2019 LGBTQ romantasy novel, he sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue was first announced in May 2024, with Perez teasing that he expects to begin filming in 2026. The sequel is penned by the first movie’s writer/director Matthew López, along with Gemma Burgess and McQuiston, with Babbit taking over for López in the director’s chair.

In Red, White & Royal Blue, President Ellen Claremont’s (Uma Thurman) son Alex (Zakhar Perez) has an embarrassing encounter with Prince Henry (Galatzine), threatening US/UK relations and his mother’s reelection campaign. While attempting to clean up the bad press, the pair is forced to pretend to be best friends, during which the unlikely pair secretly falls in love.

Perez and Galitzine reunite for the sequel, with Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter returning to produce, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López. McQuiston will executive produce.
