Tom Burke and Eve Hewson have signed on to lead Lenny Abrahamson’s next project, a currently untitled film, set to start shooting in Dublin on March 2 for Element Pictures.
The film’s synopsis reads: Set within Dublin’s Jewish community in the late 1970s, the film is a lyrical and emotionally resonant portrait of Davey (newcomer Sean Meagher), a 12-year-old boy on the edge of change, navigating the anxieties of adolescence alongside the evolving dynamics of his parents’ marriage.
Producers on the film are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, Catherine Magee (Normal People), and Abrahamson.
Abrahamson (Room) previously worked with Element Pictures on the TV adaptations of Normal People and Conversations with Friends. Other creatives on the project includeProduction Designer Anna Rackard, Director of Photography Suzie Lavelle, Editor Nathan Nugent, Make Up Designer Sonia Dolan, and Composer Stephen Rennicks. Also on board are Costume Designer Eimer ní Mhaoldomhnaigh (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Hair Stylist Orla Carroll (The Banshees of Inisherin).
Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland, and RTÉ funded the project. A24 has boarded the film as U.S. distributor, Elevation Pictures as Canadian distributor, and FilmNation Entertainment is representing international sales.
