The Amazon MGM Studios’ Bart Layton-directed and written film noir Crime 101 will hit Prime Video on Wednesday, April 1.
That represents a 47-day theatrical-to-streaming window for the Amazon movie; longer than the 30-day that the Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans holiday movie, Red One, had.
Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbara, Corey Hawkins, Nick Nolte and Jennifer Jason Leigh opened on Feb. 13 to a 3-day of $14.2M with 89% certified fresh from Rotten Tomatoes critics and a B CinemaScore. The $90M net production finaled at $36.4M domestic, $71.7M worldwide.
Based on the Don Winslow novella, Crime 101 follows an elusive jewel thief (Hemsworth) whose string of heists along the 101 freeway have mystified police. When he eyes the score of a lifetime, his path crosses that of a disillusioned insurance broker (Berry) who is facing her own crossroads. Convinced he has found a pattern, a relentless detective (Ruffalo) is closing in, raising the stakes even higher. As the heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all three are faced with life-defining choices – and the realization that there can be no turning back.
Amazon MGM Studios recently saw its highest grossing movie ever since it acquired MGM with the Ryan Gosling starring sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary which recently cleared $300M at the global box office.
