Kelly Marie Ware (November 19, 1960 – July 18, 1983) was a young woman who was murdered by Gary Ridgway in Seattle or SeaTac, Washington on July 18, 1983. She was Ridgway’s thirty-third known murder victim.
She was identified in December 1984.
Background
Kelly was born on November 19, 1960 in Washington. Details about her childhood are unavailable, but she is known to have become involved in sex work.
Disappearance
Kelly was last heard from by her mother on July 18, 1983, when she called her mother from a payphone in Seattle, Washington. It’s unknown what happened to her afterwards.
Discovery
Kelly’s remains were discovered in SeaTac, Washington on October 29, 1983, just south of SeaTac airport. Her remains were likely discovered during searches of the area after the remains of Constance Naon were discovered in the area two days prior. Her cause of death couldn’t be determined, but her case was deemed a homicide.
Aftermath

Kelly wasn’t reported missing in 1983, meaning she wasn’t added to the list of suspected victims of the Green River Killer. This meant that after Kelly’s remains were discovered, she remained unidentified.
When Kelly’s then-unidentified remains were recovered in October 1983, she was believed to be a Green River victim and was added to the list of victims.
Identification
Kelly was reported missing in late 1984 and due to her being a sex worker, police suspected her to be a Green River victim. This lead to the identification of her remains via dental records in 1984.
It wouldn’t be until 2001 when her killer, Gary Ridgway, would be apprehended. He was convicted of Kelly’s murder, along with the murders of forty-eight other women.
